CG: Engage is a vision for Cedar Grove Baptist Church to grow in service as one church body united for the common good and spiritual growth of CGBC. True Woman '22: Heaven Rules
Sep 30, 2022

Two words are sometimes all it takes to upset and overwhelm us: tornado warning, treatment options, work layoffs, family trouble, big decision, car repairs. They take up so little room, such two little words, and yet they can fill a whole day, the whole house, our whole lives with dread, panic, and concern.

Heaven rules is the two-word answer for every two-word worry, for every wave of assault on your peace of mind. Because Heaven’s rule is God’s rule: His rule over nations, leaders, and nature; His rule over cancer and concerns about your kids.

The Church In Dialogue
Aug 20, 2022

We're excited to welcome back Dr. Jim Orrick as the Reformed Baptist panelist who will be participating in the forthcoming dialogue on August 20th. He will be discussing the Eucharist and another theological topic with Pastor Tom Elbert (Divine Savior Lutheran Church), and Dr. Jonathan Ciraulo (Saint Meinrad Seminary). Please join us for The Church in Dialogue V!!!

Jim Orrick has been a Baptist preacher for over forty years. He has written several books, including Mere Calvinism and Seven Thoughts Every Christian Ought to Think Every Day. He has also spent many years teaching and mentoring young men for the ministry. He is pastor of the church with the name that causes every other pastor to turn pale with envy: The Bullitt Lick Baptist Church.

Biblical Theology Workshop for Women
Aug 06, 2022

No matter how much you already know or don’t know about the Bible, if you’re a woman who wants to know your Bible better, this workshop is for you!

Do you ever read the Bible and have a sense that there is a deeper meaning or significance to what you are reading that you can’t quite figure out? Or do you sometimes wonder why some people have been able to draw things out of a passage in the Bible that you didn’t see until they pointed it out? If so, I hope you’ll make plans to come to a Biblical Theology Workshop for Women. Our aim will be to increase our Bible skills so that rather than being bored by, or intimidated by the Bible, we’ll become more intrigued by it, moved by it, more confident that we’re grasping what it is communicating to us.

Over three sessions, we’ll review the key events of the Bible’s story and the major sections of the Bible. I’ll demonstrate telling the story of the Bible through the lens of one of its important themes. We’ll work together on tracing a few themes through the various sections of the Bible. Then we’ll look at the opening of each of the Gospels and discover how a growing understanding of major biblical themes adds to our understanding when we see those themes arise in specific passages of the Bible.
